I also believe South Dakota got a grant to upgrade its state owned trackage west of Chamberlin, SD. Old Rock Island line
That’s an “old Milwaukee” line (the RR, not the beer) that ran from Chamberlain to Rapid City.
It was nice to finally see the USDOT come to help the Southwest Chief. We have been working on it for three years. Used it a lot before I moved to help the Silver Star.
