I am proud of the C&NW and I am loosely modelling my layout after it. I notice that several of the posters here use their favorite railroads logos on ther avatars and signitures. Since the Union Pacific owns the rights to the C&NW, can we legally use the logo on our posts?
Where can I get a copy of the C&NW logo to use on my posts?
Bergie will pull copy written and protected material down if it’s posted. He hasn’t said anything about the logos, so I don’t that it’s a problem. We’re not profiting from posting a logo in our sigs.
While not being a lawyer, I would believe that it would fall under the “fair use” provision in the law. For example, even when UP was being a total jerk about their logos, it was still legal to take photos of UP equipment w/logos and have them in the magazines. It was also still legal to create your own UP decals and apply them to your own models. And so on.
