I’m thinking of selling most all of my 027 tubular track in various condition. Also have a dozen or so Marx track with black plastic roadbed. What do they sell for?
Over the past few years, I’ve paid from a low of .04 cents to @ .35 cents apiece for used O27 in bulk (50+ sections) at train shows and ebay (and that did include shipping). The only stuff I’ve paid @ a buck or more apiece for has been a handful of Marx O34 curves and a small pile of new track (O42 curves and long straights). Out of @ 500+ sections, I ended up trashing @ 15% right off the top, cleaned up the rest, re-sold some of that, and am using the balance (@ 350 sections). Personally, I’ve set an absolute upper limit of .25 a section for really nice used O27, if I find I need any more. Only exception would be for O34 curves.
Sell it on ebay, I have gotten, no BS, up to$1 per section for 027 track there, and I don’t mean new track!
I also sold some MPC 027 track mint on card and did even better.
Its christmas time, so try your luck, make sure you have more straights than curves and if you have any junky manual switches toss some em in to sweeten the pot.
No garantees, but its better than 5-10 cents per.

O27 track sells for chump change.
i don’t know where most of the prior responders live, but…if you break your o-27 track into lots of 10-20 pieces, separate st from cv and describe it honestly, you will get 35 to 50 cents -per track plus shipping.
look at the ebay results and you will see.
large lots tend to go to resellers who won’t pay…small lots go to operators who will pay the fair price…just list it honestly and keep the shipping charles to actual.

Most of it is average 80s and up used with the usual darkening of the rails. Is that how I describe it?

This assortment of track is in pretty fair shape. The track has been used, but no major rust or corrosion on most pieces. These are standard 9” (Measured from end to end on inside rail, not including the pins), tracks.
Most of the pins are present. The track is in good shape mechanically; no loose ties dents, etc. that I detected. Of the rusty pieces, sanding the tops of the rails and the pins – if needed – will guarantee good electrical contact. The second picture shows one of the more rusty tracks so you can get an idea of its condition. Most are not this bad, however. There are also 5 11" curves and 2 1/2 curves included in this sale.
For those who are not familiar with the differences between “O” gauge and “O-27” gauge, here’s a brief explanation. Both types are “O” gauge as far as the width between rails. This is what determines “Gauge”. However, “O” gauge Lionel track is a bit higher, and the rails a tiny bit larger in diameter. It is sturdier and better made (hence, more expensive) than “O-27”. The “27” represent the diameter (in inches) of a circle made with this size track…27”. Also, the ties of “O” gauge are curved on the bottom, while O-27” have straight (sharper) edges on the bottom of the ties. However, there is an “O-27” type that also have curved edges on the bottom of the ties, and the ties are brown in color. The track in this sale have the black, straight-edged ties. I do, however, have another sale featuring the brown, curved-edge ties.
