I have some DAS air dry Modeling clay and have an idea to use it for some of my roadways and grade crossings. Just won if this idea will work?
I might work but it depends on how you apply it. It could be decent or look lousy since it’s shape can totally depend on how it is applied.
Got to be easier than plaster, make a mock up and try it.
LION uses modeling clay for lots of things.
Use it on coachwork like Bondo… NYCT used so much bondo on its older equipment, if they took all of the Bondo off there would be no coach work left.
LION burned one of his cars, and repaired it with modeling clay. It did not look all that good, but not all that bad either. That car was painted yellow for MOW work.
MOW equipment on the NYCT can be quite intersting.

David Popp used that or something similar in one of his construction videos over on Video Plus.
RAOR? The lion either had his post reversed or is getting dislexic as he ages. :-)!
If you’re trying to represent asphalt, then black craft foam (EVA foam) with gray paint sponged on works well. If you use 1mm foam on code 100 track, the pavement can go the full width of the track without interfering with flanges.
