Using silicone to lay Untirack Good or bad idea ?

I’m also at the point of laying track. I had bought some used Kato Unitrack in "N"scale. it appears to have been held down with Silicon ( RTV ) Caulk ? This seems like a good idea if you ever need to remove or move the track. Does anyone have any experience with this ? Good or bad points ? Thanks, Dave

Bad.

Use a latex adhesive caulk. It can be cleaned off if you want to move or recycle the track. The silicone stuff is on for life.

Actually, I’m using scilicone caulk to lay my track, and it IS easily removeable. The scilicone also adds a nice plastic-safe, flexible joint, that helps dampen sound. The scilicone caulk doesn’t have to be anything fancy. I use Ace Hardware stuff that’s $1.29 a tube. (I’m using clear, which is easy to hide)
