Using SPROG3+JMRI+WiThrottle, thinking of going to physical throttle system

So, I’m mostly happy with my JMRI + SPROG3 + PR3 setup for running and programming locomotives. However, I’m thinking of moving to a system that has a hardware throttle.

I could absolutely care less about programming the locomotives through the hardware throttle, as I like how clear and painless it is to do so through JMRI. I only want the physical throttle for locomotive control and throwing turnouts.

I’m looking at either CVP, NCE, or MRC, with Digitrax a distant fourth (I really do not like their wireless throttles)

Relatively inexpensive is one criteria, but more options through the command station that the SPROG can’t do is another.

My layout is a 6x12 oval with about 35 turnouts into yards and different spurs.

What are my options?

That’s why I was at one point considering making a throttle that conencted to a phoen via Bluetooth, so I could have an actual knob throttle to sue with WiThrottle/Engine Driver - which is another way for you to get a throttle that works with the SPROG. You aren;t limited to sitting at the computer screen to run trains.

What’s so horrible about Digitras radio throttles?
