Hi guys,
Well, vacation is finally over and I got to see some good railroading out west from the front seat of my RV…we started our journey from the Houston area and covered the states of New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, and Arizona…some of the things I saw were pretty cool…the BNSF runs a double mainline from Clovis, New Mexico all the way to California and they had trains running about one every 10 minutes in either direction…I saw some railroads that i didn’t even know existed…one, the Utah Line, in Helper and Price, Utah and the Arizona - California Railroad in Parker, Arizona…I also saw where the UP connects the trains from north and south Texas into one line heading west between Sierra Blanca and Van horn, Texas heading to and from El Paso…lots of trains went by there…i also got to see the train yards at Fruita Colorado, Clovis New Mexico, Tucson Arizona, Las Vegas Nevada (Got to see a double headed train from the Las Vegas yard go thru the mountains north of there) and the yard in El Paso, Texas…i’ll try to put some of the pictures on disc and post them here in the near future… Chuck
[#welcome]Home Chuck, sounds like alot of railfanning!! I can only imagine.
One day if I win Lotto, I’ll come over and do the same.
Ken.
welcome back…I bet you have some nice pics, cant wait. How were the gas prices filling your RVVVVV?
the prices were bareable except in Colorado…$3.19 a gallon!..the average was $2.99 a gallon …it wasn’t as bad as i first expected…spent about $1400.00 on gas for the entire two week trip…couldn’t fly there for that amount and taking in all the scenery from the ground was worth the trip…chuck
