I noticed the following information “stenciled” on an Accurail Mo Pac plug-door box car: “For vacuum salt loading only. When empty return to Hutchison,Kansas.” Was the salt in bags, barrels, or “loose?” Would the car’s appearance reflect its association with salt, i.e., weathered white-ish?
Any info would be appreciated.

I don’t have any specific information on the cars, but here in the salt mine at Hutchinson KS in 1994.
Galveston TX received salt from Hutchinson KS for use in refrigerator car icing, in special Santa Fe reefer-salt boxcars. I plan on building at least one such car for my N scale Santa Fe Galveston layout. Have the “donor” car set aside but haven’t started the kitbash…
