Here in NH the Anti Rail people site a study done in Europe that shows that “just putting in rails” does not create development. The end result is they are against putting in rail passenger service between Concord NH and Boston. When I point out that having been the member of a Planning Board I can tell you first hand “It is up to the owners of the land and properties near rail transit stations to apply for zoning and building changes to create and allow higher building densities and more investment.” Then the response is "But the “cho cho train will not pay for itself”.
