I just checked Burke’s book on Beggs. The illustration in the posted picture of the old paper text is an exact match with the same illustration in the book. It looks like the engine you have has the headlight twisted to one side. In the Burke book the best match to your engine is the construct he has identified as Period 3 late which has all modern domes (1890-1893). The only major difference I can see is the headlights on his engines from that period have a small bottom pedestal and are not mounted directly on the headlight bracket.

I think you’re right. But notice how the pilot wheel looks a little misaligned? Apparently that’s an actual feature: the front and rear axles are set radial to the effective curve of the track for better running. I believe some engines actually had a little ‘superelevation’ built in to make them harder to tip… of course, that implied they could only go around the circle one way. Don’t try to “fix” them to be straight!
