Hey all,
I just found these two LGB train sets that we bought about 6 years ago and i’m looking to sell them since i’m in the need of some money right now. However, I need some help with determining the value of these. The first is a #91950 Amtrak bullet train set. It’s in mint condtion w/ box and manual and probably has about 20 minutes total of indoor run time. Since then it’s been in the closet and it ran great when I just tested it today.
Second is a #73968 Steam loco set. Has a little steam loco and some flat cars that haul pieces of track. Mint condition as well.
Sets don’t hold up well in price when they are the bottom-of-the-line stuff.
That “Bullet Train” is like the ICE…I sold one, brand new, with a spare car AND the extra power block for about $225 a while back and was glad to get it.
(Just an FYI…current GR TrainWorld has the same train in Warner Brothers Super Heroes colors for $139.99. Always worry when they have to paint them like that to get rid of them)
Without any spare cars or extra power block, about $125 max UNLESS:
You find someone who absolutely HAS to have it and offers you more, or
Nobody wants it at that price and you have to give it away.
Most of the current sets in TW are about $235 new.
If your putting it on e-bay it can be tricky to set price. E-bay buyers are NOTORIOUSLY cheap! I know I’m one of them…[;)]
The Bullet set may be worth $125 but no one may bid on it at that price. I would give it a try though, set your starting bid at $125 , if no bites, then consider lowering your starting bid.
But if you want $125 for it then thats what you should set the start bid at and let it run for a bit longer than usual and see what happens.
The other set even in mint condition might not match original list price unless it has never been used, again it depends on how much $$ you want for it and how fast you want to sell it. Set your starting bid at the minimum you are willing to sell it for. New starter sets are $235, I would consider $150 to $175 a good price to sell fast, but if your in no hurry set your price around $175 to $200 and see if there are any takers. If none then relist and lower the price. Good luck[8D]
