Vandalism suspected in Michigan derailment

The view of the tracks from the Bridge shows that the rails were ripped out of the ties. They need to pick-up the rails, remove the ties, and move the ballast. It is all sectional rail.

Hinman yard in Battle Creek has tank cars for High Fructose Corn Syrup. The Kellogg’s plant is still making something in Battle Creek.

The WWMT website has a video of the Hinman Rail Yard.

Find him, beat him, hang him!!!

I don’t think Kelloggs makes cereal in BC anymore. They have a big distribution center there though.

And while they’re at it, round up all the little juvenile delinquent b_______ who graffiti equipment and publicly cane them, al la Singapore.

Hanging’s too good for him. Drawing and quartering is better.

when this criminal is arrested i hope he gets a long sentence you seem to give out lengthy jail terms in the USA we need to do that over here in England i am in the hang them and flog them brigade. i am pleased that no one was injured or killed in this incident Charles Coleman UK

Wow, some train enthusiasts engage in some pretty violent fantasies.

In Newborn , Georgia there is a branch line of the Norfolk southern that the Great Walton Railroad used to lease. A month ago some contrector started removing all the rails and ties between Newborn and Mansfield. They are now in the process of replacing all the ties , rail and redoing the ballast. I wonder if the contrector was stealing steel.

There is still plenty of cereal at the Battle Creek Kellog’s plant as the NS job there routinely pushes cars of grains and sugar through their gates for unloading. Sadly, no finished cereal is shipped by rail from there anymore.

You’re a little easy on that SOB, Britt.

To the comment that cereals out of that plant do not go via rail any more, well, they do. they go in intermodal containers. Yeah I know what was meant by the comment and I agree that boxcar is a good way to go. But the way supply chains are managed, boxcar is too slow whereas intermodal does provide consistent transit.

Doesn’t anyone proof read these articles? “Railroad worker say they a man ran away and drove off in a full-size red pickup”…How about “Railroad workerS say they SAW a man ran away and DRIVE off in a full-size red pickup”

Intermodal is better than box car for speed of transit, but more important for matching inventory to effective cost control.
