What would be the proper scale for cars, and trucks on HO scale layouts, and can any of you share any pictures?

Once again i would like to thank you for all your HELP!!

my layout will be 1950ish!!![:)][:)]

1:87 scale of course, so start by checking out the offerings from Classic Metal Works, Sylvan Scale Models, and Alloy Forms. There are many other manufacters (1:87 Vehicle club list) with offerings that cover that vaguely defined 1950s (1950? or 1959? - big difference in an era with annual body style changes and a new car for the Jones every 3 years).

Lots of threads around about estimating scale using toy diecast vehicles like Matchbox (hint - usually only trucks are within HO scale, cars run too big). Top Gear Top Tip - if you’re going to a big box toy department, bring a scale human figure of average height to eye-ball compare the vehicles against - if the size difference looks silly to your eye, then the vehicles way out of scale.

Mostly CMW, some Model Power, & Athearn

You can see a number of brands and the photos on the Walthers site (or in the HO catalog) and the modeltrainstuff.com site as well. Then go to the site of the vendors that draw your interest. You will note that prices can vary considerably (e.g., on construction equipment) and it’s not always easy to see the quality differences in photos, so do consider the brands people here seem to suggest looking at.
