Happy Veterans Day to all concerned! This old Marine says “Semper Fi” to you all, no matter what uniform you wore, or still wear. You’re the best!
Thank you Firelock. Please indulge me an an old Army story.
I was assigned to Walter Reed Hospital in DC and had Christmas leave. A snow storm was predicted; airports were closing down. I took the Georgia Avenue Bus and the 14th Street streetcar to Union Station and brought my military ticket. The ticket agent said trains were running but because of the storm there were no schedules. I ran to the track he told me about and heard “all aboard.” I ran faster and just made the last car of the train, walked through the sleeping cars to the coaches on the front end. 4 hours late the train pulled into Providence in a sea of white at 6 am. Nothing was moving. The Haven’s Diner truck stood in front of the city hall. Eating breakfast I was wondering how to get home to Warwick. My home was a blick and a half from the tracks but there were no commuter trains in those days. The guy on the next stool made a suggestion I cannot repeat here but I got home for Christmas. .
God bless America and all who served in her defense!
Thank to all our veterans and those currently in uniform!!!

The above link, hopefully, will bring up a photo from the NS Corporate site of their newly released #6920 decorated to honor Veterans.
Would this be considered a “Heritage Unit” or a Special Honorarium Unit? [bow]
To all those in the US Naval Services “Happy 237th Birthday!”
Samfp1943: Interesting, that NS locomotive, and well appreciated by me and I’m sure others, but a bit of “Marine Green” on it wouldn’t have done it any harm!
Thank You and to All…
