VIA marks 110th anniversary of ‘Ocean’
If Mr.Siciliano and Via Rail are serious about increasing the number of customers and respond to their needs here’s one simple yet basic suggestion.
Offer them more than three weekly departures !
Thrice weekly doesn’t get it!
And they were only 3 hours late into Halifax for the ceremony attended by a very few dignitaries, and numerous railfans and passers-by !
Re the picture. Is this the future of the “Ocean”: a two car train? I suppose the ‘wizards’ in Ottawa (read Francophones) have elimination of all rail passenger service, except in Quebec, in mind.

I can remember when passenger service between Montreal and Halifax was twice a day. Too damn bad it’s not that way now. The other train in those days was the Scotian.
Why the rather offensive comments from readers Wadden and Hays, about "Ottawa francophone wizards "running Via Rail ,etc ,have been "cleared " and published, leaves me quite surprised ! These gentlemen should take notice that an American railroad operating in Quebec ,left its assets and operations in such a mess, that it resulted in the tragedy we are all familiar with last year !!!
My family and I rode The Ocean in 2010 - what an incredible journey!!
I hope that the Ocean is around next year when my wife and I go to Nova Scotia and PEI for our 25th. Anniversary.
Is Amreica going to lead or follow? It seems like every time VIA proposes cutbacks, our congressional critters are taking cues from Canada to solve problems at Amtrak.
