VIA Rail buys Brockville Sub

And the seller is CP, I assume.

Any expansion of VIA Rail track ownership is ideal for making the Toronto–Ottawa–Montreal corridor an efficient mode of travel between these three cities. Not sure how much more is possible given that they run on CN’s main line between Toronto and Montreal.

CPR’s Brockville sub is listed in former CPR timetables as 27.8 miles (between Brockville and Smith Falls Ontario) and the VIA press release said that they had purchased 28 miles of track. Most likely this is the purchased length of track-age but with the use of kilometers (as well as miles in Canada) it may have been miss interpreted as 17.5 mile
