VIA Rail to offer basic services in case of work stoppage
I get the feeling that if the union shut down VIA, nobody would miss it except for those living where the railroad is the only way in and out because there are no roads.
Jeff’s rhetoric is typical of the train haters at the Libertarian party, which thankfully does not exist in Canada. And there are roads to all of those places where the railroad goes, but they just aren’t suited for Jeff’s modes of transportation. It’s senseless to build a mega-million dollar four-lane super highway to places where maybe there only four people living there. Too much money spent on new roads is what is draining the transportation budget, needless to say the road related financial resources in taxes and fees don’t even cover half the costs.
