VIA Rail wins award for airline partnerships
what a wonderful idea, seamless transportation, we should have more, when it is tried it works, congrats Via, for being a leader in the field.
It’s great to have seamless interchange between modes of transportation. Of course, you have to have a mode of transportation to interchange with. The way VIA has been cutting service there is not much left to it.
Good for VIA, but hasn’t Amtrak been doing this on the NEC for several years now, in cooperation with some of the European air carriers like SAS? Passengers with NEC destinations fly into Newark and take Amtrak from there. The Europeans have been doing this for years. Fly Lufthansa into Frankfurt and change to German Rail (DB) right in the airport, on the same ticket.
An award for an idea that has taken nearly 40 years to implement!!! Unbelievable!!!The Pearson -Union Station link was discussed in the late 1960s as the rail line passes less than 1 mile from the airport boundary. I wonder how many missed flights occurred because downtown passengers got stuck on overcrowded local freeways over the last 40 years.
