great tip. love all your tips.just to many to keep track of. Keep em comin i’ll figure something out.

Great job always

You didn’t mention the problem of glueing painted surfaces to painted surfaces. Paint should be removed. Some glues will not hold otherwise.

Thanks for the tips.

a good story would be about lazer cut models and gluing techiques…

Very helpful. You are keeping my interest at an all time high and make this hobby fun!

OK THE ARTICLE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE BUT HOW DO I TELL THE VARIOUS PLASTICS APART

When glueing in the windows, would I apply the glue to the edges of the glass, or to the structures frame work inside? I use very little glue on the frame, just a very small dot and set the window in. I then apply a little bit of presure to make sure of no gaps between the window, and frame. But when I do this the glue will squeeze out toward the inside of the glass, and when dries it looks terrible. One other problem I found was on the Life Like kits the clear plastic windows will not stay in place after they have dried. Any ideas?

per the above comment regarding gluing painted surfaces, using canopy glue is another option to consider instead of removing paint. canopy glue also works well when gluing windows as it dries clearly. Canopy glue provides a reliably permanent bond and is non-toxic.

Grateful for the tips as I will be assembling some Walthers Cornerstone and DPM kits in the near futrue. Thank you.

Adding to Richard Grimes’ good comments above on using Canopy glue; another BIG advantage I have found is it will allow disassembly in case of an error. This disassembly process has to be slow as to not damage the parts. These assembly errors do happen on occation and with the cost of some of these craftsman kits, it’s a good feature for the glue to be “not so permanent” for a short time after assembly. Other glues are not so forgiveing. One more advantage is that it will not break down in water or Alcohol.
