August of 1990 was a very busy month for the Soo Line. An Indian blockade of the CP Rail in Canada force the CP to detour their Trans-Canadian traffic through the States. Majority of the traffic went to the Soo Line. I got word of this busy time so I headed off to Columbus Wisconsin to catch the action. August 24, 1990
Enjoy!!

No problem. I just wish I could have spent a few days along the tracks that week.
I was working at Harvey ND at the time as a clerk and we referred to these trains as ghost trains as they operatated with thier consist paper work from the CP and nothing was entered into the Soo Line System they just showed up. I sure hope the track is better thru Columbus now than what it appears in the video.

Yes, the tracks are in way better shape now. But back then, it was a better show!!
Heres a video of mine that is a couple of years old from the same spot

This video will give you a feel for how the new owner of these tracks has improved them dramatically…this scene is just east of Columbus, WI.
Great videos! I really liked the OP’s video with the sectional track , the auto racks and the caboose. At this time, 1990, I was watching the SOO as it went through Sturtevant, WI. Previously, as a kid, I watched the SOO, before it took over MILW. RD trackage, on the WCLtd. track between Fond du Lac, WI and Chicago. My grandpa’s farm was near Honey Creek, so I watched the track between Burlington, WI and Mukwonago, WI.
Mike.
Thanks!
I watched the SOO north of Fond du Lac on the Oshkosh-Neenah-Appleton segment.
