That was a fantastic video! I love these locomotives, and seeing those two units run around the MR&T was awesome. I really appreciated all of the different clips and interesting angles. Thanks for the video!
No offense to your staff, but this video had nicer camera work than most previous video reviews. These are certainly nice locomtives - I’m glad that I have one and want more (budget permitting).
Probably your best video yet, and that by a considerable margin - a joy to watch. Well done, thanks.
Walter in Oz.
Have one Genesis UP no sound now will like to have some eastern roads great unit.
I have mine on order, after seeing the video, I can’t wait to get my hands on mine! Great video!
A great video!
Very impressive video. In fact, since the nearest railroad hobby store is > 100 miles away and I know of no private layouts locally, this video has pretty much convinced me of buying Athearn vs competitors.
Your reviews continue to improve. Great shots almost make me want to update from the transition era.
Thank You
Absolutely Beautiful Locomotives! And this was by far the best review you have done yet! I could watch this train traverse the MR&T layout all day. Dana you did a superb job handling the train running it with realistic speeds compared to others I have seen that run trains like slot cars. I love the Athearn Genesis line and plan on purchasing both the UP and BNSF units. As a professional locomotive engineer these are my favorite GE engines to run. Keep up the outstanding work and let’s see more train action like that on the MR&T!
Great video. Actually watching Dana operate the layout with the reviewed engines is way better than just watching them run through a couple various scenes from the layout!!! I hope you guys are thinking about doing more reviews like this one, keep up the good work.
Best video ever, good close up showing details and also some scenery. Please improve the sound recording from the locomotives, is the only drawback I see.
I agree with Adrian. The video portion of the review is much better than previous versions. Their used in more realistic situations. The sound is lacking though. Mainly, the horn is usually the loudest part of a locomotive and it’s extremely subdued. Fine product.
Again repeating others sentiments… great video. I thought this before reading the other comments. Just putting the locomotive through is paces on a nice layout. Excellent
The horn sound continues poor. Why Tsunami can’t do what Quantum does?
Think before I demoed the units I would have done a little programing to adjust sound levels. The horn can barely be heard, the bell is a bit too loud and the dynamic brake sound is almost nil. That being said, these are two fine looking units.
Liked the bell, the horns, on the other hand, sounded tinny, much like many others I have heard. The finish and add-ons make this a loco I probably will buy this fall. Athearn, as is the norm, sets standards that others can only emulate. Excellent video,
Hello, I think that engine sound of this GEVO sounds like a GE C 30, I believe that the GEVO engine is not too noisy!. This Athearn GEVO sound engine looks like a crankshaft sound typical of C 30, and not autentical GEVO. Thanks.
Great video, Dana and Ben! I could watch MR&T ops all day. Very cool shot angles in interesting rail situations. You guys just keep getting better and better. Thanks for doing vids like these!

Always enjoy the reviews and superb video!
