looks like a fun way to get started .

Rather see a steam locomotive in these sets.

Too bad the track that is offered is useless in an outside garden enviornment. I fault Bachmann for failing to offer decent track equipment to an otherwise worthwhile starter set.

Liked both sets. I do think the logs could be a little more real looking. But I belive if a hobbiest takes a little rub to logs he could give them realness they are missing. Also would be nice addition to spectrum series, don,t forget us.

I’m thinking seriously about purchasing the “Prospector Set” for my small coal company layout that I’ve had for about 3 years. Just the individual coal cars are worth the price of the set, and the loop of indoor track can be used for testing equipment during the foul weather months!

A welcome addition to the Big Hauler line-up, but still a little pricey, considering that I bought my early sets for around $100 to $125.

Hard to go wrong with the sets for the price - the typical “street price” for these sets is maybe $10 more than the locomotive ALONE. Been considering the “Prospector” set to run as a dedicated “mine train” on it’s own separate track from the mine tipple (already in place on my railway) to a yet-to-be-constructed mine “adit”, with an auto-reversing controller.
