Why didn’t you show what it looks like on a 22 inch radius curve?

I stay away from unusual rolling stock as a rule. The more common a car or loco, the more realistic it will appear and the more believable the layout. It’s fine if you want to collect a model of every experimental monster diesel that Union Pacific ever built, but a string of ordinary boring SD40-2s on point is far more typical of the prototype.

Absolutely awesome car. Would like to have seen it make a couple of loops around the layout. Keep up the good work at MR.

I saw this car come thru Winnipeg, Manitoba mid-80’s - I don;t know what will be in the description on this car, but it was desuigned to have it’s load shift either way when it met railway traffic on adjoinging tracks - the car was stopped, load shifted by hydraulics to the side and passing trains allowed to pass - load then chifted tot he cener and it carried on - will be looking to buy one of these.

WOW, amazing!

A real cool wagon. Good on Bachmann for setting the pace. I have one - sure it is huge and would not go around my friend’s layout - and it looks awesome sitting with an EMD Loco, a buffer wagon and a Caboose.

An absolute great looking monster of a heavy duty car! I read the write-up of this car in the November MR. The choice of industries that the loaded transformer would be limited. I would imagine that the load could be delivered to an off line destination. The rules for running the car would be a neat challenge for operators. Great edition from Bachmann.

I have one and love it. Sure it has a few short comings for the rivet counters but as a member of a Free-Mo organization when it runs at shows; people stop and watch. Is it for everyone and every layout? Of course not - but it sure draws attention and that is great in my books to have people talk about our hobby. BTW, if you google schnabel car you should get links to pictures and videos of this car in action in NA.

A very unique freight car. Had to get one. A great short train and will make interesting operation scenario.

loved it

Neat Car,

I’d love to see it produced in “N” Scale

If you’ve got it, flaunt it! What a great way to show-off your layout with a twenty two inch, or greater, radius.
This Schnabel car is one impressive piece of rolling stock!

Can’t wait to read about what the Schnabel car is all about. Looks very heavy.

Very nice

Interesting type of car…

interesting car- probably limited appeal- certainly great for those who have need for such a car.

In the initial still photos in the ads for this car, the load appeared to be 4 - 6 feet off the railhead. On the prototype, that would be more like 6 inches. Can this guy be adjusted for height?

low

Car runs superbly on my layout–only problem required major surgery on several curves and tunnel portals!

Heavy duty, special application equipment. That is what got the job done. Fine piece Bachmann!
