Guys, as usual it looks just incredible. These videos are a true inspiration for all who aspire to reach for the level of craftsmanship that you all display. Looking at the work that you all do has been a real inspiration for me through the years. I knew Andy when he lived here and worked at the local hobby shop. Back then he used to be into War Birds as well as railroading and we used to all marveled at his work on battle damage he would kitbash into some of his stuff and the just awesome level of details he would build into them as well as his rail stuff. I have to thank him for giving me so much encouragement and his sharing of techniques and such to make my modeling come alive for me. So thanks Andy, and thanks to all of you too for all you share with us. Keep up the good work and hope to see a lot more of the layout as you improve and detail it in the future. Clear tracks ahead guys!..
This has been a fantastic series, I hate to see this come to an end, talk about value added content! Kudos to all the staff who participated and shared their knowledge.
Can’t wait to see it finished with all the industries and to the first train in williams bay.
Great job, love watching the progress.

I hope when this journal is finally complete that a DVD of ALL the chapters will be available for sale at a reasonable price.
Very nice to see it taking shape. I think it would be nice to show cost and man hours these projects take so beginners would have an idea. Thanks Bill…
Just a great job. I really enjoyed David’s commentary and of course Dana and Cody. It is nice to see what professionals can do with a layout. Thanks for letting us in on yur project.
Thank you.
When is the NMRA convention in Milwaukee to visit Bay Junction Project? I would like to attend.
Thanks
Great6 Job! Look forward each week for your progress. Hey tell Cody to not rest his hands on the scenery.
It’s interesting that there’s some confusion as to when the NMRA convention will be (was) in Milwaukee. Jim Kelly and I worked on the river scene between Winter Hill and Williams Bay hoping to have it finished in time for the 1997 NMRA convention tours from Madison. We got the bridges planted and the scenery roughed in but other stuff got in the way and it just sat there all these years.
I think you’ve done a wonderful job of finishing up the scene, especially with the way the water meanders through the river rocks under my rusty ol’ bridge. I can’t speak for Jim, but it’s exactly how I imagined the scene in my mind. Great job! Now you need to work on Winter Hill and put Andy’s rock crusher to work.
I think it would be fantastic to have the kind of job where you got to play with trains all day long and still get paid.
I absolutely love the river scene at the end of this segment of the bay junction project layout video. It made me want to roll up my pant legs and wade into my ankles in the cold running watter. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for highlighting this to your readers.
Hi, Donald,
Unfortunately, it was last year. The NMRA held its 75th anniversary convention in the city of its founding, Milwaukee, and conventioneers who came to tour Kalmbach got a look at the then-recently completed Bay Junction project.
But you don’t need to wait for a convention to see Bay Junction, the Wisconsin & Southern, and the rest of the Milwaukee, Racine & Troy. Next time you visit Milwaukee, drop by the Kalmbach offices during work hours and we’ll be glad to show you around. (That goes for everyone!)
The layout is looking great. What did you use to create the water in the river?
Guys, great job on the progress of the bay junction area, liked the river and the area, you could see the water flowing, and here the water rolling on. GREAT JOB.
