Hex juicer. This is what I have been looking for.
This is the most clear explanation of how to wire a turnouts to DCC and power switching that I have seen. Wiring and power switching of turnouts is a much neglected area. Being a modeller in Spain where the hobby is not well supported MR is always there with the answers.
Great video David. What kind of swicth motors do you use on this project layout? and have you wired these in connection with the frog juicer ?
Pretty Neat. Where can we get more information on the “Hex Frog Juicer”
Where can I get that digital meter?
David, thanks for the info. Nothing more frustrating then a train stalling or the sound cutting out on a insulated frog.
Thanks for the tip about the Hex Frog Juicer…looking forward to the next installment.
So, David, could you please stop by my house and install a little wire? I know Model Railroad wiring is a process of smoke and mirrors, and that you don’t want to let the smoke get out… Again, great job of keeping us up to date, Will Kalmbach release a CD/DVD with all of the updates on it, and maybe some additional shots after it’s all finished? That would be great!
I enjoy these video sessions very much.
This was really helpful to me, as I am just getting started with a DCC layout, and will be using a Wye to reverse locomotives following the prototype in my home town.
David, a very helpful and clear video, I always learn something new from the Video Journals.
The Frog Juicer is interesting. Does it owrk for N Scale turnouts too?
Very clear presentation David - thanks.
Great Switching machine. When I first started DCC, I wasn’t aware of frog polarity problems & couldn’t figure why a dead short was showing, on my initial set up. I’ve been looking for an answer to the problem. This frog power unit is the cats meow. Thanks again for answering another rail related problem. JJ Kindred, Warrensburg N.Y.
Couldn’t you make so we can fast-forward the video especially when I have watched some of it I would use it. Thanx
I gotta believe that in the future someone will produce a turnout with a chip underneath it. Just hook it up to DCC and everything from that point (so to speak) will be automatic.
Thanks for sharing , looks like things are coming along really well!
At $70 the Hex Frog Juicer is a little expensive for a large layout with many turnouts. What are the alternatives? As this is a relatively new item, what was done before to power frogs? Will you have a complete review of the Juicer in a future MRR? Interesting update to the layout overall though.
David. Thanks for showing how to hook up our frog’s
The Bay Junction is coming along great.
As always the video’s are a pleasure to watch and learn from.
Where is the toggle switch’s installed to control your tortiose machines?
Thank you.
Thanks David for a good video, easy to follow.
