Video: HO scale H-10-44 switcher

Looks and sounds like a superb locomotive for those who are interested in that sort of loco- good job on the video too! Video reviews are more informative than written in my opinion.

It looked like you were using a MRC Prodigy DCC system, is “option 9” limited to that system? Good video!

Hi Murray,
Regarding your question. No, function 9 isn’t limited to the Prodigy system. You can use this feature with any DCC system that supports at least 9 functions.

Dana

It looks likeit’s over at the tracks here.

Great idea to include a video of locomotives reviewed in your magazine. Brodhead, Wisconsin has this diesel by their depot museum, only painted with Milwaukee Road’s 70’s paint scheme.

Looks and sounds good, but you forgot to signal at the road crossings and backing up.

Thanks, It is always good to see and hear the locomotive. Maybe an article for followup is on which systems support function 9.

I have one of these loco’s and it’s a real mainstay switcher, I use it all the time. I enjoy the sound and the throttle response is really good.

Dana I have some proto locomotives that use function 9 for shutdown and standby has that changed on the fairbanks morse model or is it still a function for new proto models too.

Hi Lucas,

Function 9 still triggers the shutdown sequence when the locomotive is in neutral (not moving). The heavy load feature is activated when the locomotive is moving in forward or reverse.

This locomotive is extremely good. Walthers’ Proto 2000 has done it again. Hopefully seeing this wonderful review will change is mind about that locomotive. I prefer the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe “Zebra Strips” scheme.

Very Nice Dana. I am quite satisfied myself with the new Walthers Proto 2000 series locomotives. I purchased a Second Generation GP9 at a trainshow, and the vendor was very kind to test it out for me to see. Very smooth runner at such low speeds. Haven’t been able to test it myself, but i always enjoy just looking at it, in my display.
Thanks for the Review.

Couldn’t agree more with you , Daniel Glinski, regarding video reviews. Like it is said “actions speaks more than a thousand words”. Keep them coming Dana.

I ordered the H10-44a few days ago. The video is great as I haven’t seen one operate yet.
I also have a Proto 2000 F7 A&B with QSI. Very happy with it as I am sure I will be with with the H10-44. I also have a Bachmann Spectrum 4-6-0 with Tsunami sound. Very good!

I love these type of locos H-10-44, S-1,2,3,4, HH660 they are great! does my knack for yard switching show? best of all this FM switcher has the unique sound of horizontally opposed engine its really nice, just like my Subi, or god willing a 911turbo.
BTW does Atlas HH660 come with its own sound recordings too?

I just love it! The Milwaukee Road has always been a fascination to me!
