Could you show a bit more on the scenery ?
Great display/layout. Looked well put together from what you showed us. Is your display DC or DCC and where were your other con’sists? Did not see yards or other strings. Still a job well done and thanks much for sharing.
Since the Mann’s Creek Railway itself was a narrow-guage railway, and the HOn3 operation is the significant feature of this layout, it seems quite strange that the video shows only the main-line “connection”.
Excellent modeling. Love all the little details.
Ron’s layout looks fantastic ! but i would like to know his secret to the waterfalls on his layout. He failed to let us know in his article.
Waterfalls: I used the Ron Morse technique–aquarium filter floss sprayed with Krylon clear spray to make them sparkle. Thanks to you all for your comments! Mr. Hoerger, my main narrow gauge locomotive, Shay #8, was “balking” so could not get a decent duration of smooth running for the video for Lou Sassi! Harold Brown, Jr. my emphasis has been on scenery and historical structures per the text, so do not have huge numbers of cars, and only 1 yard, at Thurmond. Layout is DCC. Priority has always been on modeling REAL scenes/structures and REAL folks doing their jobs–every square inch was “thought out” in detail, also with NMRA achievement program in mind, resulting in MMR status in 2010. Further comparisons of prototype and model can be made by browsing the 200 photos in our book. Sidebar on people - I have 165 real person/model photographs, most period photos of the folks in the 1920’s and 30’s. Remaining 30 are named for persons found in the census records as working there (mostly coke oven employees, for which I could not find period photos). Ron
That’s a lot of railroad in a small space! Thanks for the waterfalls tip, Ron, and congratulations on the MMR. The layout clearly shows why you earned it! Outstanding!
