Video: HO scale New York & Long Branch model railroad

Brings back memories of the late 40s early 50s of trips to Belmar from Newark’s CNJ Broad Street Station usually headed by a Camel Back. Made a couple of trips with Pennsy to.

Very Nice!!! I live in NJ and work in Newark. Living near there and being able to hunt out familiar sights on people’s model railways is an amazing thing to be able to do! Thank you for posting this!!!

How come there is no narration?

My father and model the New York and Long Branch and CNJ’s southern secondary so this is one of the most important issues we have ever read. We both live in Brick, NJ so we are only a 5 minute ride from the Bay Head loop. The ability to model a prototype line that ran steam until 1957 (on the PRR side of the house - CNJ had fully dieselized in 1954) gives a nice mix of steam and diesel that worked along side each other for several years. It’s not often we find models of our area so when we do it is very exciting to see them - especially something of this size.

O for the old days when the “P” Co. was still with us.

This layout is very beautiful with all the colors, he has put into it. I like the way he has designed it ,looks really good. Keep up the good work Kevin it is a beautiful layout.

Very nice modeling and attention to detail. Makes us wanting for more!

I wish the video was longer ! wanted to see more of the highly detailed layout.

What a nice layout, it’s a shame most houses don’t come with basements in Australia.

Used to ride out of the old CNJ station on Broad Street in Newark. A Camel back usually headed up the train to Belmar. Pennsy steam was spectacular.

sure would be nice if my issue gets here soon

This brings back many happy memories. My grandfather worked for the PRR and I spent every moment in the summer with them is Point Pleasant, NJ enjoying my cab rides in both steam, diesel, and the GG1. I would be handed to an engineer heading south out of Pt. Pleasant, take the loop at Bay Head, eat with the crew then continue up to Amboy for the switch to usually shark nose or GG1 for the ride through Newark then into NYC. Another crew took Tony’s grandchild all the way back to Pt. Pleasant. I am currently living in Parkertown and I am ready to start my triple decker layout also featuring the NY and Long Branch. Thanks for the beautiful video and memories. Once I complete the room and start the layout, I will post some photo’s and video.

More ideas!

I really like the panoramic shot showing the whole layout room. I wish the video also followed a train over the entire length of the railroad.

Kevin understands how to do realistic weathering. Some of the finest and most realistic work that I have seen.

Very nice city scene opens the video! Like the green building. Would be nice to follow the train around the layout. Good composition of city, industrial and yard areas. Is the upper level a ‘stand-alone’ switching layout or is it connected to the lower section?

I remember the NY to Manasquan very well during the 50’s…very well done

Very very nice,Wish I had one like it!!!

Thanks for the video. I model 1983, but trains are trains!
