Video: How to work with static grass

Looks like a good product - Will have to buy one when I can afford it

Static grass adds a lot to a scene. The Noch Grassmaster is a little pricey. You can build your own " Grassinator" for around $50.00 to $60.00 with the most expensive component being the shipping costs from Australia ($20.00) for the Ion Generator. I did this and am very happy with the results.

I appreciate that the folks in Waukesha refer to the winter as “modeling season.”

Thanks, Dave & Cody…have never seen video on how these static applicators work. The basic technique seems do-able - and I’m sure there are a ton of tricks to achieve different coverage, height and other special effects. Nice demo of the basics.

too bad the Noch static grass maker is soo expensive

I built a home grown version of the"Grassmaster" for less than $25.00 There are several web sites that show how.

Hey I am in Australia, where did you find the ion Generator? As for the article this is a technique that I intend to use on the new division that is being made for the Sydney N Scale Club.
The Ion Generator is the last component for my mind control ray - everyone will love model railways - mwhaahh

Keep coming with the good info. Lots of good stuff, Thanks

For those that have access to real fine sawdust, dye or paint
it green, or whatever color you want. Add a little dish soap to
your diluted spray on glue (elmers works great) and with a
flour sifter, or by hand, sprinkle the sawdust on the glue area.
Let it set for 10 to 15 minutes, then spray more glue as needed.
Works almost as good as Noch grass and a whole lot cheaper.

I would like to learn more about the “grassinator” in ADM Prahl’s comments.

I am disappointed that Cody did not show the Gras-Master in action.

Looks good, I just bought one and I’ll use it on my new HO layout!

What it looks like after Cody “grassinates” the pasture and the closing view of the pasture in the video, I had wished he had gone into a little more detail in how he got it to look much less uniform.

Excellent explain about the static grass. I will try it by myself later.

That is just cool

I built mine for $6.00 from the u tube video with the electronic fly swatter. Took me about 15 mins.

NCR Div6/ SMSG members have built 20 of them for around $15- $20. The 120v Ion Generator works with good results. We used discarded pvc pipe, small storage containers, drain screens, three wire AC cords, on/off switches, some of us put in fuses. We now have tall grass year around in Michigan.

I like the results. Thanks, Cody!

I built mine with parts from Electronics Goldmine, for less than $20.00. Last email received had the ion generator for less than $5.00…
