The all time best small layout remains John Allen’s original compact HO scale Gorre & Daphetid. It can be modified to fit any modelers requirements and/or season of the year. Manufactures advertise in MR and product reviews of their products shouldn’t require a subscription to the magazine.

Looking forward for the next issue!

TO JOSEPH TOTH JR: Actually you’re mistaken. We review products from non-advertisers all the time. In addition, although the reviews are a subscriber benefit, the weekly new product announcements are open to the public. You don’t even have to register with the site to view them.

TO DANA KAWALA: SORRY! I profoundly apologise. I appreciate you taking time to reply personally. In our modern ultra high tech robot world today it is nice to know Kalmbach employes real people who care about their readers and don’t make profit the top line! Thank you!

Looking forwards to articles on small layouts.

It has been 6 years since I have had a layout and I’m looking forward to getting back into it and rejoining the MRR discussions posts.

Eager to see what has been done with the Virginian. I am at the track wiring stage on my version. There is still time to incorporate new ideas… Any sneak previews?

I am really looking forward to the March issue. I, like many others, have only a small bedroom space dedicated to the hobby.

One of the articles in the March issue pertains to Santa Fe’s CF7 locomotives. The article references one engine in particular, engine # 2434. When I graduated High School in 1970 I applied for a job at Santa Fe in Los Angeles. Looking back at my old “time books” I see that I worked on engine 2434 many times in Hobart Yard along with many other of the CF7’s. Small world. I definitely plan to add one to the roster on my small layout.

Glad to see the small layout issue come back again. I’ve really enjoyed it. Hope this becomes an annual thing! There are some great RRs highlighted in this issue. The Georgia Northeastern published in Model Railroad Planning 2016 was another great example of a small layout. I have a 10x10 room to work with, and these inspirational track plans has given a boost to my thinking. Trying to optimize my industrial sidings and thanks to these articles, I think I have something I’m happy with now.
