Video: Kato N scale FEF with SoundTraxx Micro Tsunami DCC decoder
Very nice sound! It sounds better than my Athearn HO scale version. The desert terrain is very evocative of the UP in the southwest.
The whistle sounds rather weak to me. Can the volume on the whistle be adjusted to a louder level? The other sounds seem realistic. Nice loco model. What you would expect from Kato.

I still have a problem with your sound settings, Dana. I think the bell is overly loud, and the whistle barely discernible. That being said, good job.
Not only looks great, sounds great also. Should have gotten mine decoder ready. Any suggestions?
Little longer video would be good.

This is a beautiful model. All ready sold out everywhere. I you are thinking about getting one and you see it, you better get it!
engine looks an runs nice however the decoder has the wrong whistle , an from looking at the video the fourth driver from the front isn’t running true. i don’t think the decoder has the correct whistle downloaded in it.
Excellent video. I love the UP steam locomotive, too bad I had to Jack up the volume to hear the whistle. I hope Kato releases a 2nd run so I get one.
Great video Dana and a beautiful layout the Salt Lake is ! Also, it demonstrates clearly… you get a lot more real estate for your money in N !
Very realistic sound, nice Locomotive
love that layout!!!i need dat
Awesome train on a beautiful layout. The scenery establishes the mood.
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to post a quick comment about the whistle. I left the sound levels as they were out of the box. The difference wasn’t as noticeable “live,” so I apologize that the whistle is a bit quiet. Please note that with the Tsunami you can easily adjust the individual volume levels of each effect, so it’s easy to turn up the whistle.
Thanks for watching,

nice review of the #844 the whistle is silent so it needs to be adjusted and switched to chime whistle or it sounds like a diesel horn.
Where’s the video of the DCC decoder install? Now that would be awesome! A whole series of N scale DCC installs, from simple to complex.
