Great
Looks pretty nice. Is it beneficial to have four powered units? Seems like two would do the job, and have two dummies, maybe the B units could have been offered as dummies. The review seems to suggest one could do the job, though that’s at the limit. To get the full set, 60% of it is on four locos, 40% on 11 passenger cars.
Now you’re making me wish I’d gone N scale.
Dana, The train was running too fast to get a good look at the line up. Nice train set however, do the Kato units have sound, if so we could not hear it at all. Nice look at the train sitting still, slow down a bit so we can enjoy the video better, show more of the layout next time.
NICE!!!
I have other Kato E9’s and they are awesome performers, DC or DCC. They are also heavy and capable of pulling heavy consists. I’m sure these new UP’s are no worse. Loved the video. Yes the speed was a bit high especially on those curves. Loved it though.
Line ups like these are convincing me to go N scale…wish I had chosen this scale first.
The locos looked jerky, or was it just the video?
I have the E9 A and B unit along with the full AMTRACK cars produced back in the 1990’s. They are still running great and smooth as ever. They are an eye catcher for guests that visit my layout. I agree with Ronald Brooks from TX, slow it down and let us catch the realism, you could loose the saxaphone and jazz music. You don’t have to have all the bells and whistles blowning either, the quiet sound of KATO is awesome.
Beautiful set, but those locos and cars are much too long for that layout; even the more gradual curves made the cars look too… toylike, even though they’re probably exactly scale length. I’d love them myself, but I don’t have the kind of layout that make these look good.
They look great, but the video was not smooth. I have a 12 Meg internet speed which I tested so it might be a server problem or issues with the video?
This is a great addition to anybody’s UP collection and from a quality manufacturer.
It’s a beauty!!
I hae an E8 Union Pacific and I have 5 passenger cars and a 22" radius and they keep coming off the track at different places.
The cars really didn’t look all that prototypical going around those curves at that speed. Nice model for N, though. I rode the all-Pullman version of that train Chicago to Los Angeles Labor Day weekend of 1960.
I agree with Ronald from Texas… I think we all would enjoyed the video more if the train was going a bit S-L-O-W-E-R.
Great looking train.
That was a very nice train. I have a few diesels made by Kato in HO scale. They are the best running engines in my collection of over 100 engines.
Nice unit. I model n scale and like the fact that you can run long trains in a small area. Like Ron Brooks said, slow down; show more of the train and the background. The short glimpse of the train going through two tunnels was great - more of that would have been nice.
Nice. I wish I had the money to buy that set.
