great can’t wait to get my mag! i am model csx coal too!

This is an inspiring piece for my own 4x8 SP layout. I am looking forward to the Feb 2011 issue very much. Thanks!

It looks great!!! I need to read the article to see how all of this layout fits on a 4 X 8.

Good video and smooth looking operation. The scenery was also great. I enjoy the work of those that work in three dimensions. I have a hard time visualizing the height factor and have to play with the scene for a while before I can appreciate the depth of the scene from a"flyover" level. Superb effort and thanks for sharing.

amazing!!! very nicely done! I am a love of CSX coal too!!!

Wow!
Hard to believe that’s 4 x 8.
Very nicely done with the back drop separating the layout.

Wow. It really looks great, especially for only a 4 x 8 layout. Great Job!

Short cars + lots of 'em = realistic trains. Good job.

Amazing for only 4 X 8 layout. Beautiful work. Looking forward to reading in MR.

Great scenery. An awful lot of railroad in such a small space.Well done video.

well here I go again, tearing mine down to start again. If you guys were smart you would buy stock in Home Depot. I will be spending alot of time and money there. Very nice layout in 4 X 8.

Great layout, can’t wait to see the magazine article. It is wonderful to see a 4 X 8 with some much detail. Not everybody is afforded the large space and to combine these scences into a smaller layout shows how people still can be creative and enjoy this hobby. Thanks MR

I have seen Rick Van Laar’s layout in person at a couple of train shows, and the level of detail is outstanding. His detailed, lighted interiors on storefront buildings are among the best I have ever seen.

The layout is jolly good and I liked the music nearly as much!

We in the UK see a 6 x 4 baseboard as the “minimum” but this 8 x 4 layout shows that so much more is possible with just an additional 33% baseboard.

Looking forward to seeing in in MR.

It continues to impress me what can be done in small spaces when one puts their mind and heart in to it, Good job.

Tremendous execution of a classic track plan. John Allen would probably be quite pleased with the results. So much railroading and realism in 4 by 8. Thank you.

This is the type of video that makes me want to find a 4x8 pice of ply to get going !!! neat

ricks layout would look much more finished with a scenic ledge under the edges with scenery cliffs and bush up from the bottom ledge to track level as i have done with mine the tomahawk and western here in ashcroft bc…otherwise the bare boards tend to pull your eyes away from the layout my layout is approx 10 by 36 feet and to some 100 per cent finished but as you all know it is never done i am still adding details

very good, I’ve just taken up the hobby and half way through my own 4x8 layout. this will be the inspirartion for my second lay out, to be started soon. my quaetion is would GE AC6000 run on 18" radius?
