Video: The N scale Salt Lake Route project layout part 5
I’m studying about project layout for N scale and size is 32 x 80 in the near future. So I watched video about N scale Salt Lake Route Project Layout and it was fantastic, wow. Thanks.
Very useful video series. Having had trouble with N scale, and moving to HO, Dick’s series has given me the inspiration to at least start a small N scale layout using the Kato track. I have some British steam trains that will look great running on it, I hope.
Nice commitment to detail even on a basic desert scene.
Just came across this one and enjoyed the series.
I am building this layout; it is my first one. These videos are great. A picture is worth a thousand words, but a video is even better. I revisit this series of videos frequently to refresh my memory as my construction time is limited. Twelve months and I’m still not done.
This is a GREAT layout! Very realistic.
simply the best table top n scale layout i have ever seen…loved it so much i bought it…now i have to figure out what to do with $8000 worth of HO…Dick Christianson is brilliant to say the least…
Mr. Christianson
Thank you for the time you took to show us your work. I’m new to the hobby. And i jolly your model project and lesson in landscaping.
Thank you AL
Once again, amazing work!!! This will be my summer project(i have to have something to do during my summer between college).
Thanks for the video and tips. Im working with foam scenery too, and you gave me an idea of how to hide the seams. Thanks!
Been waiting for this! Scenery is my favorite part of the hobby and I have many of my own techniques and habits that I’ve built up over the years but I was especially interested in the foam rocks. Although I don’t intend to move my layout but once, I do want to make it as light as possible so my normal method of rubber molds and plaster rock casting is out.
Like Dick, I’m not a huge fan of making trees but since my taste in scenery tends to lean more to Donner Pass than desert, I will be making some. Luckily I have quite a few “furnace filter” trees that were saved from my last layout to get me started.
This will also be my first ever experience with Sculptamold. Always been strictly a plaster guy before. Can’t seem to find it at any of the craft stores though so I will have to order it online.
Everything about this layout from the choice of era right up to the use of Digitrax DCC has been excellent!! Bravo Dick!!
Another great video segment with Dick Christianson.
Though I don’t model in N scale, I have still found these techniques useful in my HO scale modeling.
Dick did an outstanding job building this portable N Scale Layout and also explaining the different facets of it, especially the scenery
construction portion of it. Thank You Dick Christianson.
I’m about to start building my mountain secenes and this article is a big help. I am using white foam so I hope it goes as well.
Keep up the great videos.
Another video with great scenery tips. This will help me out when I start my mountain later on this year. Now to master the paint pallet for the rocks.Trial & error I guess. Keep up the Great work !!!
Once again, excellent video with great explanation!
Another thing I’ve learned in lue of a serrated knife is use a hacksaw blade. Picked this up with one the the guys that’s been a volunteer worker at our county museum here in Lima.
Go across you foam board in random patterns and depth and then rough the surface by scrapping down with the blade. With time and patience, these rock surfaces look better then some of the molded rocks and such you buy in the store!
This gentleman is doing a small HO quarry layout with a Shay running on an oval track. Thanks!
It sure is fun watching trains run. Sure is. This is one of the cool times where is the scale and landscape I model. I do like them all.
Very informative how he looks better than treese made all of the bushes. It is very informative foamboard.of how to use
Once again an excellent video. It gave me a jump start on making the scenery for my HO scale Catskill Mountain railroad. I have been sucessfull in using rubber molds and Sculptamold or Permascene for rock castings. Thank You and keep those videos coming.
