Thank you.
I have just completed the base board and have the track down for checking. Can’t wait to start to do the wiring and start running my trains. Great value kit from KATO and my first entry to the hobby.

This is a really nice layout.

I saw the layout at Trainfest last November in Milwaukee and am always impressed with the project layouts that are produced every year. The small mini scenes I thought were great and everything as beautifully done.

Any ideas for a traction layout as a future project layout sometime?

Yes I like the humor

Spectacular! The sense of humor in Model Railroaders is some of the best in the world!

This is where I live Good old Caliente Tiny but a cool place.

Awesome Humor. Understand Freelancing Caliente. The yard is Tiny and not much to model. Any good work can’t wait to see more awesome stuff.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this N-scale layout from start to finish - great job Dick! Thanks to MR for covering an N-scale step by step build. As an N-scaler, it has given me something to look forward to each month with my subscription. It has also opened my eyes to the use of Kato Unitrack and the ability to create such a dynamic layout in such a small footprint.

Dick,
The drawer you pull out (containing the DCC control panel) … how is that secured for transport, to prevent it from rolling open as you move the layout?

Thanks! I think pointing out the fun details on a layout is a great way of highlighting a finished scene

Dick you done a great job. I have not read this months MR yet for it has not come in the mail as of yet. But do you have a list of all the buildings you used for the layout.?

Thanks Stan

After the trailer cut off I almost expected a disembodied foot at the edge stepping on/off the layout.
Love it.

Well, I’m lagging behind the team on this but my version of the Salt Lake Route, (Which is set in Wyoming!) is coming along nicely. All my Unitrack, switches etc are laid and wiring for power has begun.

Highly recommend the double cross over as a way of lengthening your train runs with a smaller layout.

This series has been especially helpful for my learning curve for DCC as I’m running one vintage UP Steam excursion train along with current Amtrak and BNSF coal operations.

Now comes financing the DCC components along with engines and rolling stock. Do you think I could get TARP money for this?

Now I know what to with some of my oops

good info great lay out!!

Well Iv followed this from the start, its been a great series showing what you can do,many thanks must go to all involved and it makes your subscription to model railroad excellent value,it will always be the only train magazine I will purchase.

Any plans to publish this series as a Kalmbach book ala “The Clinchfield?”

Great series!! I am in the acquisition stage of constructing this layout come next winter. I now only need to find a replacement for the Hardwood Furniture Company, which is no longer in production. Great Series…Keep up the good work!!

The Parking lot scene is familiar at first glance, but the paint used to mark the lines drys too fast for a car to make that many tracks. It is also very hard to apply by hand. Takes a special spray machine and nasty chemicals to make those lines.
Not Nitpicking, just brought back memories from over 20 years ago when I was told to paint the lines with a brush. As in"Here’s the paint and a brush. Go paint the parking lot lines. I’ll give 'ya an hour". After about 2 feet the paint started to harden the bristles, and I had no thinner! Later, I found out about the special requirements to do this job.
Really nice layout and detailed mini- scenes And in N scale.

maybe a dvd of the project layout will come available and other information could be added
