Great video, the little things can really make a big difference.
An excellent demo on effective mirror placement - and an example of where video has it over print as an educational medium because I have read about mirror placement for decades but in less than 8 minutes Gerry made crystal clear what I often found a bit vague in the written articles.
Gerry, You have a wonderful way of demonstrating your layout modeling skills. It’s a pleasant journey through your Bona Vista world.
I will certainly be trying your use of mirrors on my planned layout soon.
Many thanks.
Thank you Gerry Leone (a.k.a mirror magician), that technique is just wonderful and such a boon for those of us with limited space but need more depth in our scenery. Great segment.
Fantastic video. I have seen photos of layouts with mirrors before but seeing it on video really shows how it looks to visitors and how its done.
Clever. The placing and hiding of the mirrors was excellent. Now I’m considering mirrors!
Great idea, really enjoyed seeing were the mirrors are located on the layout, it adds a great deal of depth. I would like to try some mirrors on my lay out. Thanks for showing it to all of us.
NICE! Great use of mirrors of various sizes. I never would have thought about reflecting a scene contained inside a building! Great use of otherwise wasted space. Thanks for this nice video.
Good article and even better video. Keep articles like this coming MR staff and I’ll keep subscribing!
Great Video - really enjoyed it. One question - where do you buy the mirrors and do you have them custom cut?
It helps to have surface reflecting mirrors rather then standard mirrors. with those there is no gap between the mirror and the road/river. Failing that, photo quality mirror are much clearer and highly polished but will show a gap like standard mirrors.
Beautiful work! The layout and mirrors look absolutely great. Very clever idea.
I have always appreciated the BV RR but had not realized what was accomplished with mirrors - great job Gerry.
Great video with good ideas. Hey Kalmbach, how about fixing things so we can download the videos for our own use and go with the magazine article?
Contemporary state-of-the-art model railroading (around the walls with peninsulas, and all track within reach from the aisles) makes creating the illusion of depth a major challenge. Gerry’s wonderful video provides inspiration and demonstrates how-to. Thanks a million.
Very interesting bravo!
Never too old to learn. This was fascinating, creative and deceptively a winner!
I know it is best to use front facing mirrors but they are hard to find and expensive. Anyone know a good source?
Great video. Thank you for sharing with us.
