I Caught this engine this week on NS Train 111. I was wondering if anyone has any information on this railroad and its history. Thanks.

VRE is the “Virginia Railway Express”. It is the commuter rail operator operating south from Washington DC to Fredricksburg, VA. Following is the link to VRE’s home page.
Nice photo of a very clean olcomotive with a sharp paint scheme ! Thanks for sharing.
The MP36/MP40 series has gradually become the standard suburban locomotive. It can be found on MARC, VRE, GO Transit, Metra, Northstar, New Mexico Roadrunner, UTA, Caltrain and Metrolink in a whole variety of colors.
Thanks for the information. I have been wacthing trains here for over 20 years and never seen this kind of power before.
When Virginia Railway Express was first starting up a suggested ad slogan was “Easy In, Easy Out, with Virginia Railway Express!”, but that was thought to be a little salacious so it never went anywhere. They are just a tad conservative here. It’s true, trust me!
