Sivler spike could probably use a load of logs. I didn’t realiz Logging was so nation wide, I thought I would have an open market, all well friendly compatition is always fun.
Is there any one with an international port, that I could send some finnished lumber, paper, and milled grain and corn products that I could send to be shiped over seas.
Saftey valve;
yea I would deffinently be willing to arrange a deal. Considering that there isn’t many people doing this I could send a train from Eugene to Omaha via the SP/ex up main to ogden and the the ex Katy main. or maybe denver depending on whats closest to you, I would do this untill we get some other people playin along
Just one question, should we include power in this.
if so I will probably use UP AC4400CWs, SD70M, and SP SD45T-2s I also have some CSX SD-70MAC’S (ones ex Conrail) and a SD70 NS/exConrail that I would be sending back to the east coast every day
Oh yea I for got an all important Industrie on my rail road, Intermodel, we have a yard in Portland that services all buisnesses in oregon and southern washington that need to send loads over seas. so I need a 25 car Intermodel train. Most of the containers would be going down to Los Angeles, but Im sure I could also work a deal with some east coast rail roads so the shipments don’t have to go through the Panama Canal.
Hello All from YFRS. I haven’t prepared a list for my layout yet, but I’ll explain what services YFRS can provide you with. YFRS can provide bridge service between Selkirk Yard in New York, Charlestown Yard in Boston, and Canadian National in Maine, thereby providing an alternative to PAR (GRS) and CSXT. We also have a strong presence in Indian markets. Goods travelling to our from India can easily arrive in our Mumbai ports and be shipped to or from Northern destinations.

I imagine many railroads have similar needs and predict an large increase in similar traffic around the Virtual Interchange world. If you have Feed and Grain needs and wish to use a similar list you are free to copy this list and custom add or subtract for your own Interchange contracts.
Maybe I’ll get in on this virtual interchange thing. The Railroad I model, Chicago Great Western, is primarily a grain hauler, located in the midwest, which can provide service from Omaha-Chicago-Twin Cities-Kansas City. We wil glady accept / terminate grain shipments, and empty hoppers/grain boxcars. We can interchage with the Rock Island, Chicago & NorthWestern, Illinois Central, and the Milwaukee Road, to name a few.
The elevator at Kampton (fictional town) has 4 boxcars loaded with corn. any takers?
We also need 2 empty boxcars or grain hoppers for the Kampton elevator.
I am still interested in the concept of this thread. It might be easier to participate if we came up with some more defined guidelines or rules of participation. Or even some sort of form that assists with the car forwarding and car pickup process, like a manifest or consist log. Or creating some sort of “card” system. What features about “Part One” made it more successful than this iteration? I am just brainstorming here, and have not put much thought into this process.
Hmm. I do have some forms on my computer that might help but they also can be found elsewhere on the site related to switch and consist lists. I’ll hunt for them.
Here is one website that talks about operating in great detail:
I have three PDF files that came from Model Railroader. There were two for switchlists for up to 42 cars and one for industry. I looked around this site to see if I can find them but could not.
I thought about uploading the three PDF files and posting the link here on the forums but dont know if it is legal or if MR does already have valid links to these three free PDF’s.
