I may get thrown off here but here goes. I have a layout in progress, track layed, trains running, now mostly scratch building structures, scenery yet to go. As a retired computer professional< I find that I am spending more time on these forums and playing the train simulator games which is taking time away from the real layout(and other things). I am curious if there are other with a similiar ‘internet addiction.’ What are we to do?
Most of the computers I am familiar with still have that certain little button, where you can switch them off [:D]
Now seriously, participating in fora like this one can become addictive. The only way out of this is to budget your time and stick to it.
I’m sure there’s an app for that…

I’ve fallen into that trap as well. For several weeks now I’ve been promising myself that tomorrow I will spend less time in the forums. Still no luck but I’m trying. [:-^]
[#welcome] to the forums.
Some of us here are on here more than we should (myself included). But like others have said that you just need to balance your time. I try to spend no more than 10 minutes at a time on the computer. I usually check back several times a day though.
Oh, and never hesitate to ask any questions that you might have.
Sale your home computer and computer goof off at work! That is my plain of action.
What’s a train simulator game?

My computer doesn’t have that. I have to go to START, then click TURN OFF, then it asks JUST LOG OFF? or REALLY TURN OFF?
When I tell it to really turn off, it waits about 15 seconds, then says “PROGRAM NOT WORKING”
I am afraid I waste/ spend/ invest a lot of time on forums like this.
I used to build train layouts in 3D modeling programs—
but now I am actually building layout…and writing and posting pitch-kers.
Guess it’s the ultimate. “Pretend”, Pretend railroading.
There was a virtual model railroading article in the Feb 2003 Model Railroader
Railroad Model Craftsman had a two part article in Aug and Sept 2005
