Had two US Army fillings replaced, and picked up some great tools.
FYI for those of you who get tools from your dentist - the hygienist told me one of the tool companies is starting a recycle program, and dentists can send in old tools and get $$ off replacements - so soon these “gimmes” might be a thing of the past. Get 'em while you can!
I got those from my last dentist but it was “like pulling teeth” to get them. When I first asked he was reluctant. Next, I tried telling him that I would pay the bill sooner if he could help me out. (The hygenist told me that he had a whole basement filled with these used tools.) Well, he finally gave me few.
The receptionist was a goof ball too so I switched to another dentist who wasn’t such a tight wad.
I got some minature inserts (grinding bits) free from my current dentist. I had to get an adapter chuck for my Dremel but it is well worth it. I use them to grind off excess solder from soldered rail joints. They are really tiny.
Incidentally, I now own a battery powered dremel to do this as it is even slower than my electric one with the lowest variable setting.
My dentist sterilizes them, sends them off and they get repackaged and resterilized and UV’d and such and sent back to be used again.
I never thought to ask for a set. Dunno if he’d give them to me or not, but the one dental assistant who says I and my other half are her favorite clients might just drop something on the floor that could “disappear” with me. Oh well.
