I am visiting the smokey mountains - am in Pigeon forge - does anyone know any good shops down here? Thanks
There might be, but the only ones I found were at the christmas store.
Across the mountain to the south is Bryson City, NC. Smokey Mountain Trains is a great museum and store. http://www.smokymtntrains.com/ I highly recommend the trip.
Unfortunately the christmas store closed the toy store and converted it to a store that sells purses. I don’t know who is in charge but what an awful idea…
Probably a woman, they always want to change thing around.
Wonderful area, but why can’t we find a good guy stores? Time for a google search, or contact Kalmbach! I did once to find a toy product and they knew of a dealer I could contact. Paid off!

I moved from that area about 2 months ago and basicly the answer is NO sorry I hated that about that area. theres a couple place avertising trains but there selection is very very small ( hobby lobby, I think Belks dept store lol)
While I hate to hear of the Christmas store closing, they really had a limited train supply. They were expensive too. There was one store that was near by listed in the phone book and on the Hobby Retailer’s web site, but it was locked up tight. Two thoughts, either the store mentioned above, or, if you want to railfan, heading south is a main CSX line. Otherwise, no train stores there.

also if you head to newport or morristown NS runs right thru them you would see more over in morristown than newport thou.
I made it to the bryson city museum - wow that guy had a lot ot trains - I think 6000 items…Very nice layout and very nice collection of trains. Its about 15 minutes from cherokee for folks that are crossing over the mountain to visit cherokee.
Now you know to listen to Buckeye. [:D] One of things I was impressed with in Bryson City was the cleanliness of the displays. They told me that every year they close down and just clean everything. The museum layout was being run with TMCC, too.
