VOTE for a new Missouri Amtrak name

The Missouri DoT is renaming its state-funded Amtrak trains, the Mules and the Ann Rutledge (I suppose in conjunction with track improvements). Recently, they asked people to submit names to be considered for the trains, and now judges have narrowed them down to five finalists. You can vote on a name on MoDot’s website http://www.modot.org/othertransportation/rail/namethetrain.htm. I would hope all of you guys on here vote as there are some names that are not very good. [:-^] I voted for Truman Service. It seems like a pretty good match to Illinois’ trains (Lincoln Service) and it makes sense, since president Truman was from Independence, and the train even stops there.

Whatever you do, though, I would encourage that you DO NOT vote for ShowMeMO. YUUUKKKK [xx(][xx(]

Pity that we didn’t get a chance to enter the real contest to get some decent names in there. While I never liked the “Missouri Mule”, the ones they have as finalists aren’t that wonderful.

Over 8300 submitted names. Surely there must have been more exciting names than the finalists. Another name to NOT VOTE FOR is MISSOURI RAIL BLAZER! That was the name of a rollercoaster ride at Six Flags (Eureka, Missouri). A tragic fatality occured on the Rail Blazer in 1984 and the name was changed. Memories, however, remain and Missouri Amtrak trains deserve better. Yes, track improvements are planned in April 2009.[:)]
