Mods please move if this is the wrong place for this.
I have a kit (brass) for an O-scale Wabash Mogul 2-6-0, by Kemtron. It was my father’s. I found the closed kit in a larger box when clearing out his house after his death. He was an avid model railroader. I am looking to sell this item as I don’t have a model railroad.
Thank you, I’m a welder and thought, as a very last resort, I could get scrap price for the metal. Brass or bronze I would Imagine. Havent really looked at it very close, except to see if all the stuff was there. Original packing is intact.
Please, please, please don’t do that. It would amount to sacrilege. There’s gotta be some 2 rail O scaler out there who would wet his pants for an opportunity to get his hands on an unbuilt Kemtron Wabash Mogul. You might try contacting O Scale Magazine http://oscalemag.com/wordpress/ They would probably be more helpful steering you in the right direction since they cater solely to O scale.
I’ll try e-bay first and if it doesn’t sell I’ll try the magazine. I was always amazed at the detail on these things.
When I was little I had my own operators console on the other side of the basement of my father’s. He had the big one with the map, switch toggles, and block power controls. Working together we could swap operators between my passenger train and his freight line. Pretty cool.
When he built his new house, on an older family property, he designed the basement to accept his old layout. But with room for major expansion. It’s so very sad he never got it set back up. What’s even more sad is we had to leave it there and it went in the estate sale. We would have had to get another truck and there wasn’t enough time. Thank you for replying. After writing all this I don’t think I could ever scrap it. I’m sure there will be someone who would love to tackle the assembly and get some good run-time out of it.
