Today as I was waiting to unload at a wharehouse in Bedford Park IL I look up to see this Wabash Pullman being pulled out of the inside rail dock. A man that worked there said it had been in the dock for 15 years. It was to have the trucks removed and loaded on to two flat cars for movement to Monicello IL railroad museum. The man said no one had been in the car in all those years. Anyone know the “rest of the story” ?
Very interesting. Did you see (and remember) a car name, such as “McEachern” on the side? There was actually a car with this name; it was one of a very large quantity of 12 section, drawing room cars whose names began with “Mc.”
Thanks for sharing. Nice shot. From the window arrangement, smoke stack etc. , I’m wondering if this car has a kitchen at the near end. Also, is there an open platform at the other end? (I could only get the first photo) . Is it perhaps something more than a regular Pullman? Hope it gets proper preservation.
