Wall Street Journal on high speed trains

The Wednesday March 12, 2008 edition of the Wall Street Journal in the Personal Section had a great article on high speed trains. It discusses our Acela and the high speed trains in Europe. I think you will find it interesting reading and it should be mandatory reading for everyone in the federal and state government.

(1) You assume most of the state DOT’s are even vaguely railroad competent?[:-,]

(2) It’s still subsidsized travel. (Amtrak’s subsidy is a drop in the ocean compared to this)
