Could one of you Monon fans out there please tell me if the Wallace Junction station on the old Monon is still standing? If so, is it used by any individual or firm? I am asking in connection with a possible film shoot.

Thanks. I checked both sites and did not get definitive information. We are looking at a script for possible use, but if we have to “fake” the station, the cost goes up quite a bit. Hopefully, the original structure is still there.
Tharmeni- Cool, any reason you are looking at Wallace Jct. in particular (if you can disclose that)?
I only ask because I have been working in live theatre/touring shows for about 10 years now and have dabbled in the productions aspects of film, so I’m always curious when trains and the entertainment industry mix.

I don’t think you’ll find anything at Wallace Jct. I went through on a northbound train in 1991 and there were no structures there then. All the track of the Monon has been removed between Cloverdale and Elletsville so the only thing you’re likely to find are weeds and brush and maybe the remanants of the foundations of the depot and water tank that were once there. Pretty sad. 2 or 3 years ago I stopped at Gosport to look around. It was darned hard to even tell where the Monon’s tracks had been. I still remember the Floridian going through there in the late 70’s. Its all gone now.

To answer questions: The script we’re reviewing calls for two scenes at Wallace Junction. My job is to estimate production (not cast) costs of scripts.
Hi, I know this is 20 years to late. I went to Wallace Junction back in 2007. I used to work on the Milwaukee Road and Wallace Junction and the Midland Branch saved the Milwaukee’s butt many times due to derailments on the Milwaukee. I went there to reminisce cause I ran lot of trains through there. You can find the old foundation of the depot and the foundations of the signals that were there plus you can see where the North and South Legs of the Wye were but thats all. It’s just a memory now.
FWIW…the Monon station in Monon is still standing (or was last time thru town). It might not work out for you nor would negotiations wiht CSX be worth it.
If you do go check it out, by all means go to the Monon Connection Museum north of town. Quite a private collection of rolling stock, paper collectables, and my favorite are the old PRR calendars in the restaurant.
