This year’s NRHS Convention is based at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA, near Fullerton. I’ve started this report on board Amtrak #49 enroute to Chicago where after a few hours I’ll board #3, the Southwest Chief.

Train 49 arrived Croton-Harmon on time with its usual consist of 2 coaches, dining car, 2 Viewliner sleepers and a baggage car. In recent weeks it has operated from NY to Albany with two locomotives and today we had a P32 in the lead followed by a P42. My 1969 Chicago Rapid Transit photos, added to Walter Zulig’s fine NRHS Report for balance with Chicago local transportation in general. First three Lake & Wells, top Wells side of Loop. bottom Northside “L” to Ravenswood, Howard, and Evenston, right Lake to west, left Lake side of the Loop. For others I leave captions to be added by the readers who are Chicago experts, since my memory is not 100% after 53 years
