walther's 2006 refernce book,anybody have it?

i got this book when i was in georgia, and looking at a giant 20x50 layout![:D],and well what do you think about it?

Oh, yes, they’ve been publishing it for many years. Actually, there are now at least 3 versions: One for HO, one for N, and one for Large Scale. Same info, but updated, is available on their website at: http://www.walthers.com/ (Sorry, I can’t get the URL thing to work on the new forum)

You have to have url in front of the link and /url after it, of course enclose both the url and the /url with brackets.

I did not buy that one, however I may buy the 2007 since it is only $9.98.

I think trainguy was talking of the catalog that is on sale for $9.99

is it full or is it lacking I too want to get one but have been holding off

how long will it be on sale >>

K

“is it full”? Well, mostly, at least when printed. It includes everything Walthers makes (in the appropriate edition – HO, N, or large scale), PLUS everything they distribute, which is a lot, probably most, of everything available. They don’t distribute for many of the very small manufacturers (some are tiny “mom-and-pop” operations), and some of the larger ones aren’t covered fully (like Intermountain). Being pretty comprehensive, many of the online retailers have adopted it’s numbering system, making it even more valuable. But it’s printed once a year – probably the reason the 2006 edition was on sale so cheap is, the 2007 version will be out in September or so. On the other hand, some hobby shops and most online stores sell it (and everything else) at a discount anyway. I use the online version at www.walthers.com sometimes, as it is updated constantly, and also shows what Walthers has in stock. I usually buy elsewhere, though, because Walthers charges full retail plus shipping. Their service, however, is superb. Some folks, to support their LHS, will order from the online store but have it shipped (in their name) to their LHS. That way they don’t pay shipping, or deal with delivery problems, but will pay sales tax, and the LHS gets the markup instead of Walthers keeping it.

ericsp: I’ve tried the brackets etc., but that (not to mention the quote option) just doesn’t work for me. I’m using Safari on a Mac: the new forum seems more tuned to Windoze and Internet Destroyer then the old one.
