Back again, hopefully flameproof cause…you know…( yes, no one whizzed in my wheaties again!) I’m just curious-does anyone know why I.S.L.E. mountain in minutes products have undetermined delivery times through Walthers, yet are IMMEDIATELY available through flex rock scenery.com out of PA? Dont worry or send a guide dog, I get it, just reorder through the latter. Just wondering why the pinnacle model railroad supply company can’t supply? Yet alternate sources can? My childhood was built on Walthers-sad. I know, in the end I’ll still have mountains to climb (lol). Oh, and the European substitutes? Nope!! I.S.L.E. you rock (ok, baaaddd joke!!!)
Walthers claim to fame is their catalog in the past and as they expanded they got into manufacturing, they never were the only answer.
Did you actually order and receive the product through another supplier?
Places like Walthers and M.B. Klein have real-time inventory supported by their highly computerized online ordering systems. Smaller places can’t afford that. Some online dealers list products as “available” when what they really mean is “We can order that and have it shipped to you.”
If the other dealer has it on his shelves, great. Perhaps he ordered it 6 months ago. Sometimes, you just have to look around.
Just completed order to scenic express in Delmont PA, should arrive next week. I’ll leave some for everybody else (lol) so yes, I.S.L.E. is available!!!
I would venture to say that Walthers, stocks products that sell quicker, rather than collect dust on the shelves. No money in that. There are a lot of suppliers that have many, I.S.L.E Lab. Co. products in stock, Hobbylinc is one of them. In GA.
Take Care!
Frank
That would make sense (well, to walthers, not necessarily to us customers). To say something positive, I have to give kudos to Scenic Express website - their shopping engine is hugely intuitive, moving selected items off your wishlist when into cart, etc. even I can understand it!
Walthers is both a retailer and a wholesale distributor, and thus experiences much higher demand than a lot of places. Their inventory can be depleted both by their retail sales and by other hobby retailers ordering it from them. While bigger retail outfits may go directly to the manufacturer, small guys may not have the purchasing power to order in big enough lots for the manufacturer to bother with. Scenic Express is probably big enough to go directly to the manufacturer, maybe allowing them to undercut Walthers pricing a bit.
Right, I can see that. Again I only am commenting because it has been since March I started looking on Walthers and found no expected delivery date ever since. It’s all good as we have alternate sources!
Have my tracking # for the second shipment arriving midweek next so Scenery Express in Git ur dun mode. Thanks guys & gals! In light of that versus Walthers… Hey, I’m yard master like most, I’d take the discount but…a discount off of nothing is…nuthin (well said, Yukon Cornelius!). Whatever!
