Walthers City Station

I recently purchased the Walthers City Station. I purchased because I haven’t built a structure in a long time and I have room for it. I would like to use as a modern station for my Amtrak train. I was wondering if anyone has built one these. I would like to add an interior to it and any photos anyone posts would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Will

I don’t have a photo, nor have I built it, but in my opinion, it is the perfect anywhere America station.

I presume you are talking about the “Union Station”. This is a great model for detailing as you can build the kit and install the roofs after you have finished the interior. As my station sits back from the operaters, and is partially hidden by platform canopies, I only added some passengers, a shoe shine stand and some benches.

When you plan your detailing make sure that you leave room for the cross supports that are part of the building extensions.

Well, I would imagine that he’s referring to the “City Station”, as shown below:

This is a model of a modern Amtrak station:

As you can see, it is no longer available however this is similar to modern stations Amtrak has built in the last several decades, sometimes at the site of older abandoned stations. However, Amtrak does not always build new stations but uses ones built in the pre-Amtrak days so it is plausible Amtrak could have stopped at a station such as the City Station model. I don’t know if that model is based on any specific prototype, but if you are freelancing, there’s no reason not to use that station for an Amtrak stop.

Yes, I am talking about the City Station. I have seen similar prototypes of this model in various parts of the country. I drive by one in northeast Oklahoma that has the same architecture as the model, but covered in stucco.
